This used to be a wall.  That view....its the water, Hammersly Inlet.  This is a waterfront home on 120 feet of prime, walk out beach.  And now...you can see it all from inside the home!  Potential buyers told us that even though this home was originally planned as a carriage house/shop for another house in front, they still wanted windows on the water side.  My Seller listened, and took it upon herself to have banks of windows installed upstairs and down.  What a difference!

At the County....bad news

I was in the permit department and environmental health today down at the courthouse. Guess what?  They have cut 16 positions and the new hours will be half-day....the office will be open until noon five days per week....Better hurry down in the morning to get your septic designs, etc.

They will add postions as needed, once people start applying for permits again.  That is coming soon....I can feel it.

Treasure Island...Really

 

I took the kids on a day trip around Mason County along the water.  We headed up Hammersly on Highway 3, then cut over to my friend, Barbara's house on Hammersly for a visit.  From there we headed for Grapeview and Allyn.  There we found these darling islands that I somehow knew nothing about.....Treasure Island and Stretch Island.  Tiny, perfect little jewels of the Northwest. And Stretch Island, we found out later, was home to the Stretch Island Fruit Company, where the fruit snacks that live in my car for emergencies originated.

The water was a really un-Northwest color that day...blue-green and very clear.  We were lucky to have the sun for the day, and lucky to have time with each other, uninterupted, for a day.

workshops designed specifically for shoreline landowners and featuring
a variety of speakers, workshops, history, food and fun! FREE!

This series of workshops is a new program aimed at helping shoreline
landowners along Eld Inlet to attain the best and most sustainable
practices for managing their shoreline and providing them with
assistance to do just that. Participants that live on the shoreline of
the Eld will also have the opportunity during these workshops to apply
for a scientist to assess their property and may receive free plants,
labor and other assistance.
